New Partnership with Shelter
As a leading provider of funds for social housing and the UK's third largest mortgage provider, Nationwide has a strong interest in all issues affecting housing. A core part of our Corporate Responsibility strategy focuses on promoting housing inclusion, and in line with this we have recently launched our Nationwide Sustainable Housing Awards to promote sustainable, affordable housing.**
We are now also proud to announce our partnership with Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity. The funding from Nationwide will support Shelter in providing the following services to families, children and young people in Bristol:
- Emergency Support e.g. Helping homeless people secure a home for themselves; Supporting children in crisis situations
- Information and Advice e.g. Providing housing advice and financial advice such as managing money and debt
- Personal Support e.g. Dealing with the health and emotional needs of people; supporting individuals to live independently
- Practical Support e.g. Providing practical support with moving into a new home as well as how to get furniture and household items
- Community Activities e.g. Running Friday and Saturday activity clubs, where homeless families can meet and provide mutual support to each other.
Sue Kelly, Service Manager for Shelter's Bristol Homeless to Home project, said: "We are very grateful to Nationwide for their generous support. This money will make a massive difference to the lives of homeless children in the South West and will enable us to continue our vital services, like the children's activity club and family drop-in services. We very much look forward to working with Nationwide in the future so that together we can make sure families facing homelessness in the area get the help and support they desperately need."
To mark the launch of the new partnership, Nationwide employees will be joining Shelter's Christmas box appeal.
