FlexAccount travel insurance isn't available to new members anymore. If you already have FlexAccount travel insurance, there are a few things you'll need to do to keep it.

Changes to FlexAccount travel insurance

FlexAccount travel insurance has changed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

You're no longer covered for cancelling your trip due to COVID-19 or a pandemic, before you travel, unless it is for medical reasons. This applies to all trips booked, or new accounts opened, on or after 1 January 2021.

If you bought a travel insurance upgrade and haven't been able to use it due to the coronavirus, you may be able to get a refund.

How to keep your FlexAccount travel insurance

If you have FlexAccount travel insurance and want to keep it, there are a couple of things you'll need to do to make sure it continues year on year.

Your travel insurance will continue as long as you:

  • Keep your FlexAccount open and pay in at least £750 a month (excluding transfers from another Nationwide account held by you or anyone else)
  • Remain a UK resident
  • Are 69 or younger.

If you’re 70 or older you'll need to buy an age upgrade each year to keep your travel insurance going. It’s easy to do – just call 0800 051 0154.

Medical conditions

Pre-existing medical conditions aren’t automatically covered by this insurance policy. So if you, or anyone else intended to be covered by this policy suffers from a condition, you might want to see if additional cover can be added. Just call UK Insurance Limited on 0800 051 01 54 to arrange a medical screening. Unfortunately, if you choose not to be screened, any claims relating to a pre-existing condition won’t be covered.

How to register for the travel insurance portal

If you already have a travel insurance policy with us, you can register with and access the portal using your FlexAccount current account details. For joint account holders, you'll need to register separately and use the primary address on your FlexAccount current account and your personal data when registering.
