Apply for the Member Credit Card

To get a Member Credit Card you must:

  • Be 18 or over.
  • Be a UK resident.
  • Be a Member of Nationwide. This means you already have a current account, mortgage or savings account with us.
  • Have a minimum income of £5,000 per year.

So you know

  • We'll check your credit history during your application. That way, we can let you know if you'll be eligible for a Member Credit Card. If you are, we'll also tell you what your APR and credit limit will be. We can check this without leaving a mark on your credit record that other lenders can see.

If you are happy with your quote and want to continue your application, we'll leave a record of our check on your credit file that other lenders can see. This is a normal part of many credit application processes, but it might affect whether you can get credit elsewhere for a short period of time.

  • You can only have one Nationwide credit card at a time. You won't be able to get a Member Credit Card if you already have another credit card with us.

  • If you have closed a Nationwide credit card in the last 12 months, you will not be able to get the introductory offers. However you can still apply for a new card and enjoy all the other benefits.

  • If you've already applied for a Nationwide credit card in the last 30 days, you shouldn't apply again. This may affect your credit score and our decision is not likely to change.

Before you apply

If your income:

  • has changed due to COVID-19
  • is likely to reduce in the next 3 years (for example, if you're retiring)

Then please tell us the new amount when we ask for your ‘annual income before tax’.

Please think carefully about whether applying for a credit card is the right option for you at this time. Other borrowing options may better suit your circumstances.

To apply, you need to be confident that you'll be able to make your repayments on time. Be aware that changes to your income may affect your ability to make repayments.
