How you bank and how your account works will change

You should bring ID to branch

From February 2025, when you come into branch, we will ask you some security questions. You may also need to show some form of ID.

To identify yourself in branch, instead of your passbook you can use:

  • our banking app

  • a Nationwide debit card

To identify yourself using our banking app, you will need to download and set up our app before visiting a branch.

If we need additional ID from you (for example, if you are taking out a lot of money), you can use:

  • a valid full UK photocard driving licence

  • a valid full UK or EEA passport

  • an EEA national identity (ID) card

Some features of your account will change

From February 2025, we will make other changes to your existing passbook account.

We will contact you before the move with more information.
