- remove someone from your policy.
Information:
There is no fee for updating your policy, but your life insurance premium may change.
Before you make a change
It is worth reviewing your policy to check it’s still right for you. For example, if your policy was to cover the length of your mortgage, is that still the same?
Be aware that:
- Changes to your policy may affect how much you pay for it.
- Your existing policy may need to be cancelled and a new policy set up. This new policy may have different terms and conditions.
Cancelling your policy
You can cancel your policy online or over the phone.
If you find you are unable to cancel online, check ‘My Account’. This will show details of any further actions you need to take before you can cancel.
If you cancel your policy within 30 days of it starting, Legal & General will return any payments you have made.
If you have a joint policy, both people will need to complete a written authorisation. You can find more information on cancelling joint policies by logging into your Legal & General account.
Information:
If you cancel your policy you won't need to pay a cancellation fee.
Before you cancel your policy
Things to consider:
- It’s usually cheaper to buy life insurance when you’re younger. Consider changing the policy instead.
- If you’re considering a new policy, what you’re covered for (for example, types of illness) may be different.
